You know I couldn’t finish my Morocco coverage without a handwritten end cap 😆. And since I’ve had time to reflect on everything that occurred last week, I wanted to share a bit of my takeaways with you here 🥹.

The nature of my profession as an illustrator has me spending quite a bit of time creating on my own. I so rarely get the chance to meet members of our community in real life, especially as a collective group.

Seeing everyone for the first time in Morocco made me realize just HOW real, genuine, caring, funny, sincere, loyal, supportive, and inspiring this community really is!! It blew me away how similar all our energies were!!

It’s true what they say, that like attracts like. What you put out there, you get back in return. This group trip with @ModernAdventurists was so life affirming, it made me want to do even more trips, classes, and meet-ups in the future.

Thank you to EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU who made this trip possible. And to anyone who wanted to join but couldn’t, please know you were absolutely with us all in spirit. I will forever cherish all that we shared and will share.

Alright loves, the last full recap for the Morocco

Alright loves, the last full recap for the Morocco group trip is HERE 😂!! Day 8 was packed to the max to take in all the colors and coastal vibes of Essaouira. We started off the day with a city tour lead by our local guide (and hero) Hassan. The blues and whites 💙🤍 of the Medina were SO unique in contrast to the full color spectrum in Marrakech.

We then had a seafood lunch 🦐 by the beach, overlooking the beautiful harbour, followed by a local artisan wood workshop. Our day ended with our final group dinner 🥹 at the much-beloved Caravane Café, where we all sang along to the live music performance. We took one last group photo in the stairwell of our riad packing up our bags. I have just one last post to put up tmrw 💓.

Nearly done with my Morocco group trip recaps, I promise 😆!! On Day 7 we left the majestic Atlas Mountains for the beautiful port city, Essaouira. But our journey along the way was nothing short of entertaining 😂!! We got to see the infamous goats 🐐 in trees 🌳 and stopped for lunch at a family-run vineyard where I tasted grey wine for the first time. I gave it two “Hassan’s” 👍🏼👍🏼.

When we finally arrived in Essaouira, we checked into our 18th-century riad and then headed out for dinner in the Medina. This night turned out to be my favorite of the trip. With all the classes behind us, it was time to let loose and celebrate with a completely impromptu dance party 🤣🍾!! Hassan basically out-danced us all and we are still licking our wounds LOL. The best things are often never planned!!

Can you imagine a more perfect location for a pain

Can you imagine a more perfect location for a paint class in the Atlas Mountains 🤩⛰️🎨💕?! Day 6 of our group trip through Morocco with @ModernAdventurists was one of my faves for sure. While the group spent the first half of the day on a hike and lunch with a gorgeous Berber family, I hung back at @KasbahBabOurika to prepare the demo and lesson plan for our afternoon paint session.

This was the first time that we got to setup with paint palettes, etc and it was such a delight to switch up the mediums. I broke the lesson down into 3 parts so that the group could watch me demo piece by piece, then recreate in stages. Since I didn’t have an overhead camera like I would with my Zoom classes, I had to really adapt in real-time. The class was such a success and I’m SO proud of everyone.

Eek darlings, I’m a wee bit behind on posting but I’m BACK with a Day 5 recap from our group trip in Morocco 🤗🇲🇦. We officially wrapped our time in bustling Marrakech and ventured into the majestic Atlas Mountains to begin our mini-retreat at the gorgeous @KasbahBabOurika ⛰️✨!! Turns out this property is even MORE magical than I dreamed it would be.

We stopped at a local rug cooperative along the way there and marvelled at the breathtaking scenery. Our first official paint class was set to take place the following day so I was super keen to scout the property to find the perfect location to render!! For those of you who didn’t see the class on my IG stories yet, I’m sooo excited to share the brilliant works this group created next!!

I have been a fan of Hassan Hajjaj’s contemporar

I have been a fan of Hassan Hajjaj’s contemporary art since my very first visit to Marrakech in 2015 🇲🇦✨. You can imagine how utterly ELATED I was, when I got to teach my second @ModernAdventurists drawing class, at his uber cool tea room @RiadYima in the heart of the Medina!! It was peek travel x fashion inspo!!

We capped off Day 4 with a local Moroccan ceramic and tile workshop which was SO illuminating. All these years I’ve spent swooning over both craftworks and now I can finally appreciate all that goes into making them!! My heart is quite literally singing right now. I feel it in every fibre of my being that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be 🥹😭💖.

One of the coolest parts of taking our @ModernAdventurists group to Le Jardin Majorelle was being able to show the exact spots that inspired these better known pieces in my library 🥹🎨🇲🇦✨!!

Since I haven’t had a chance to finish any new work just yet, I was so grateful to have this series on hand to reference throughout our lessons. It’s been such a learning curve, teaching while traveling, and I’m grateful for it all!!

Our next lesson provided an even better work environment for everyone to layout their supplies and draw together. I’m so excited to share with you what the group learned and created, coming up next 🥰!!

Never in my wildest DREAMS did I think I’d ever have the opportunity to do a live drawing demo at Jardin Majorelle 🥹💙💛!! Day 3 with @ModernAdventurists was truly a pinch-me surreal day!! We jumpstarted everything with a visit to the YSL Museum and swooned over the incredible garments, textures, patterns, and colors!!

We then swung around to the gardens where I gave a drawing lesson, illustrated in real-time from the famous Majorelle blue villa!! We capped off the day with dinner at the EXQUISITELY BEAUTIFUL @DarYacoutMarrakech and I caught the vibe of the Arabic guitar 😆. Blown away by this trip, group, and opportunity of a lifetime!!

ALL SENSES IGNITED 😍💙🇲🇦!! Day 2 of our

ALL SENSES IGNITED 😍💙🇲🇦!! Day 2 of our group trip in Morocco with @ModernAdventurists was brimming, from morning till evening, with an abundance of inspiring activities. We kickstarted the day with a design focused city walk and tour of the exquisitely ornate Bahia Palace, followed by (my suggested evening activity 😂) a belly dancing, hookah billowing, dinner in the new town at @AzarMarrakech. I love rediscovering the Red City through the eyes of this gorgeous group and cannot WAIT to see how they translate all this inspiration into art!!

HEART BURSTING OVER THIS GROUP 🥹💖🇲🇦!!!

HEART BURSTING OVER THIS GROUP 🥹💖🇲🇦!!!! Two years in the making and I couldn’t ask for a more dynamic, gracious, funny, and inspiring crew to venture through MOROCCO with @ModernAdventurists!! We finally met for Day 1 orientation, followed by a super dreamy walk through Jemaa el-Fna at sunset, and rounded off our evening with a candlelit dinner on the rooftop terrace of our Riad ✨.

I’m hosting this trip alongside our beautiful Belgian trip leader, Joanna, and our hilarious heart-of-gold local guide, Hassan!! I’ve been on countless group trips but never as a host. I can’t help but feel like everything I’ve done in my life and career to date has brought me to this moment!! I cannot WAIT to kickoff our first drawing session together tmrw 🎨. My gratitude for being here knows no bounds!!

Darlings, we’ve officially touched down in MARRAKECH with @ModernAdventurists 😍🥳!! I’ve spent the past few hours getting settled in to our new home at the stunning @AlmahaMarrakech. What a majestic and dreamy little oasis in the heart of the Medina 💓. The group trip officially kicks off tmrw and I CANNOT WAIT TO MEET EVERYONE!!!! For now, I’m going to sleep off this jet lag. It’s been 2 years in the making and TODAY we are

It’s been 2 years in the making and TODAY we are finallllyy heading to MOROCCO with the amazing @ModernAdventurists ✈️😭🇲🇦✨!! To say I’m emotional is a wee (make that massive) understatement. I’m truly overcome with feelings of gratitude, joy, excitement, nerves…the works!! My heart is racing 💓.

This trip feels like a culmination of everything I’ve been working towards, and dreaming of, since the minute I published my first blog post on TravelWriteDraw in September 2010 🥹😭!! This might sound silly but I still can’t believe there are so many wonderful people who signed up to come on this adventure with me.

To everyone joining me in real-time on this trip, I CANNOT WAIT to share in this remarkable journey with you. Thank you for the honor of a lifetime 💖!! And to all my loving and loyal community members who can’t be with us in person, you will ABSOLUTELY be with us in spirit, every step of the way!! I love you all from the bottom of my heart.
