Central Park in the Springtime 🗽🌸✨ I’m still in Canada for one more week and finding myself pinning for those glorious, cherry blossom lined, strolls along Museum Mile. Those of you who know my work well may recognize the foreground fashion figure, a @Chloe illustration commissioned by @HarpersBazaarUS, which I decided to revamp with this new painted background.

It felt right after this past Feb’s debut show from Chloé’s new creative director, Chemena Kamali, who single-handedly ushered back floaty, feminine, bohemian frocks. I also couldn’t decide which version I liked best: V1. Without Blue Sky vs V2. With Blue Sky 🤔. The difference is subtle yet somehow changes the way my eyes flow in the composition. Which version do you prefer, friends? V1 or V2?!

I had to compile a few samples of my live drawings

I had to compile a few samples of my live drawings for a new client this week and came across these clips from past events with @Dior & @LaPrairie 🥹✍🏼✨. There’s nothing quite like the rush of painting live in front of an audience. It always gives me fresh insight on my artwork and pushes me to let go more. My analytical orderly left brain has to give way to my right and that’s when the magic happens 🪄. And since many of you enjoyed this in my stories so much, I had to share it here too 🤗. Happy Easter Darlings 🥹🤍. It’s been almost

Happy Easter Darlings 🥹🤍. It’s been almost a month since I’ve posted on here but I assure you it’s with good reason. As many of you now know, my life was turned upside down these past few weeks after I started to experience dizzy spells, loss of balance, impaired vision, numbness in my fingers and feet, completely spontaneously. To say I was frightened would be an understatement. I saw countless specialists and was tentatively diagnosed and treated for vertigo and then vestibular migraines. I still felt in my gut that something wasn’t quite right with my diagnosis.

Last Sunday I was admitted to the ER for 9.5hrs, after a weekend of acute spasms, where I pleaded for a neck MRI. My Dad flew in to meet me at my hospital bed. Sure enough the images revealed herniated discs on both sides of my neck, caused by a whiplash injury 4 months ago. The pinched nerves along my cervical spine were creating my symptoms of Cervical Vertigo 😩. I’m now FINALLY working with the right Dr and have the correct recovery plan in place (anti-inflam meds and PT). I’m so beyond relieved to share that I’m ON THE MEND!! I flew to Toronto yesterday to be home in time for Easter with my family and get some rest.

I’m obviously still processing everything, but I know so many life lessons can and will be gleaned from this experience. To start, our health truly IS our wealth. Without it we have nothing. And secondly, never EVER be afraid to ask for a second opinion. If I hadn’t insisted on switching to another Neurologist, I would still be taking meds for migraines, versus meds to treat my neck inflammation and spasms. It’s only been a few days of the right treatment plan and I’m already starting to feel like myself again 🙏🏼!! Your intuition is paramount, life is so damn precious, and I’m so unimaginably grateful 😭. A new chapter has begun…

I walked into an appt this morning in Union Sq and found myself standing side by side with the prolific performance artist, Marina Abramović. It was one of those magical New York moments, where an otherwise banal experience becomes an unforgettable core memory. I have long admired her work, since my Art History Minor at McGill two decades ago. Her performance piece “The Artist is Present” at the MoMA, left an indelible mark on me. Seeing her felt like an omen ✨. A reminder that the career of an artist spans decades, evolves endlessly, requires time…time away, time to create, time to rest, time to engage, and time to share. When I painted the illustration you see above, I had the exact concept of magical New York moments in my mind. Tonight felt like the perfect ✨time✨ to finally share it.

In continuation of my last post 🗽✨, I’ve managed to unearth some absolute relic photos from my first few weeks living in NYC, back in late Summer/early Fall 2009 🥹💗. I started my Fashion Illustration AAS degree that Sept @fitnyc and my life thereafter was never the same. Discovering these pics on my clunky old white MacBook (you know the one 😆) felt like reuniting with an old friend.

You can quite literally see the innocence and wonder in my eyes. I had such BIG dreams and SO many hopes!! I don’t think this version of me would believe half of what has happened since 😭, including the reason I’ve dug these old pics up. Those who follow my stories already saw most of these, but your reactions were so darn touching, I just had to post them on the main feed for posterity.

Every interaction feels beautifully and uniquely big-apple coded. I’ve been digging through my archives of both my New York art and photos and thought I’d share one of my faves tonight. ‘Wish You Were Here?’ Antigua, 2024 🌺🏝️. I got this creative ✨ping✨ the other day which urged me to overlay text on this piece. I couldn’t ignore it despite 25% of you trying to persuade me otherwise in my IG stories poll 😆. I like the graphic quality of the words in marker combined with my classic, washy landscape underneath. The question “wish you were here?” is an open commentary on my complicated (both beautiful and taxing) relationship with social media. I’ve included the original piece in the 2nd slide and would love to know which version YOU prefer?!

To quote the great poet, Miley Ray Cyrus, “…I can buy myself flowers” and so I did 😆💗💐!! Happy love day, darlings!! I hope no matter where you are in life, in this present moment, you took the time today to appreciate and love all that YOU are. I adore this holiday, if only for the sweets 🫠, but I don’t particularly love how it makes my single friends feel so…well…singled out. I hope this post stands as a gentle reminder that any form of love (be it love of self, friendship, family, or partner) is an absolute gift, and worth celebrating today and everyday.

This past Saturday I signed up to a new yoga studi

This past Saturday I signed up to a new yoga studio, without even realizing it was in NY’s Flower District, two blocks from the Hyatt hotel, which houses my original piece in its lobby 🥹👯‍♀️💐. Naturally I had to pop in and see how she was doing!! I think it’s been at least 5 years since I’ve seen her in person and it certainly brought back all the feels, from creation to installation.

As an artist, I so often feel that I’m only as good as my last project. The pressure to post new work constantly is immense. Especially at the start of a new year when the anticipation around what I’ll do next is at its highest. But I’m realizing that way of thinking is toxic. With nearly 10 years as a full-time artist under my belt, I have so much to be proud of and grateful for already.

So until I can reveal the new projects I’ve been working on this year, here’s a look back on one of my favourites. If this is your first time seeing it, she is 60”x72” in size. It took two men, myself, and a U-Haul to bring her from my Brooklyn studio, to the heart of Manhattan, one sunny day in the summer of 2017. She’s the biggest canvas I have ever painted but there’s still time 😉!!
