One of my favorite career moments to date was being commissioned by CODE to illustrate the front cover wrap of WWD for the official New York Fashion Week issue in February 2017.
I woke up realllly early the morning it landed on newsstands and raced to my favorite magazine shop, Casa Magazines NYC, to get my hands on a copy. I was so over-the-moon excited to see my very first cover!!
That night, a party was held to celebrate the opening of CODE with the WWD team and my magazines were found stacked around the venue. It was utterly surreal to be surrounded by a sea of my illustrated cover.
Here I am above with the life-size canvas I painted live at that event in just under 2hrs. It was exhilarating and nerve-racking to be watched by so many people during the process.
In the days to follow I was elated to find my cover being handed out at all the major New York Fashion Week runway shows and presentations. Here I am with one of the official WWD girls as she handed them out to show attendees.
I would so love to do another cover again one day. Perhaps for Condé Nast Traveler next?! You never know…
