Antigua City Guide

Friends, I’m so beyond thrilled to finally share my guide to Antigua with you! Fresh from my second visit to this stunning and seductive paradise, I’ve fine-tuned my recommendations to be better than ever. Antigua has quickly become my favorite Caribbean destination, offering the perfect mix of chic, elevated experiences, without a hint of pretension. So, without further ado, here’s everything I recommend for your first visit below!

What to Pack:

  • Antigua is more approachable and accessible than, say, St. Barth’s, but it’s still the perfect place to dress up in your best beachwear. A stylish mix of resort wear and chic accessories is totally appropriate for lunches, dinners, and dancing.

Where to Stay:

  • The Admiral’s Inn – an enchanting boutique hotel overlooking the picturesque Nelson’s Dockyard, offering a serene escape from the vibrant energy of Dockyard Drive, steeped in history and elegance.
  • Carlisle Bay – this 5-star hotel immediately transports you to a state of tranquility and ultimate bliss. Purchase a day pass to enjoy a complimentary lunch and afternoon tea served right on the beach.

Where to Eat & Swim:

  • The Hut, Little Jumby – a short ferry ride to Jumby Bay Island brings you to this beach-chic, toes-in-the-sand Private Island Restaurant & Beach Club. I highly recommend the Pomelo Spritz and Tuna Poke Bowl for the perfect light lunch.
  • Boom Restaurant and Pool – open-air infinity poolside restaurant with a breathtaking view of Nelson’s Dockyard, situated in front of Gunpowder House.
  • Colibri Bistro – a French Créole farm-to-table restaurant nestled in a charming Caribbean cottage along Dockyard Drive, in the heart of English Harbour.
  • Catherine’s Café – few places are as special as Catherine’s!! A French-inspired beachfront restaurant with a boho-bourgeois vibe. Make a Saturday lunch reservation for 2pm then eat, drink, and dance along to live music until the sun sets.
  • Sheer Rocks – truly one of the most beautiful venues I’ve experienced in the Caribbean. Perched upon a rocky cliff, it offers pristine views of the azure waters while you savor sharing plates of locally sourced, inspired dishes.
  • Tamarind Hills – the perfect spot for sunset views overlooking Ffryes Beach and a golden pour
  • Rokuni – Asian-inspired cliffside restaurant blending bold flavors with a laid-back, luxe atmosphere. Come for the inventive cocktails, stay for the poolside vibes, live music, and panoramic views.

Where to Shop:

  • Cool Cabana – a beautifully curated fashion boutique featuring island ready resortwear, swimwear, and accessories.

Where to Play/Fun Activities:

  • Jolly Harbour Sports Centre – craving a lil tennis rally? Whether you’re a beginner or looking to perfect your technique, one-hour lessons with professional instructors are available for hire. Patience (pictured above) was absolutely brilliant.
  • Antigua Day Charters – charter a private motor yacht for a half-day adventure departing from Jolly Harbour. Cruise through the clear azure waters of the Caribbean Sea, with snorkeling equipment, snacks, and drinks included.
  • Nelson’s Dockyard Marina – provides a captivating glimpse into the island’s rich history as a former British naval base and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
