This past December, I was so honoured to partner with the gorgeous Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya, to bring awareness to their collaboration with (RED). A selection of Andaz properties were adorned with red cabanas and proceeds from their rentals were donated towards (RED)’s fight to end Aids.
I felt so extraordinarily lucky to participate in this campaign, not only because it was for an incredible cause, but also because it was the first time since going full-time with Travel Write Draw that I was able to bring my own photographer with me. And that photographer just so happened to be my very good friend and former co-worker, Laredo Montoneri.
We had such an amazing time collaborating on the creative photography for this partnership, laughing over meals, and carting around the property. I’ve traveled a considerable amount on my own, or with industry peers, these past 3 years. Being able to share all of these incredible experiences with someone close to my heart, really brought the trip that much more to life for me.
I also felt that much more relaxed while shooting and the results paid off. I even had a Frida Kahlo moment (see above) when I got to dress in Del Sol Photography’s costumes which you can rent on property. One thing I could not get over was the candy floss colored sky at sunset. We took this shot (below) after photographing the cabana series. The wind was super gusty but the sky was just so gorgeous.
It was a quick trip but absolutely jam packed with so many laughs and memories. Going through these photos again makes me want to plan my next adventure asap!! Where to next, my friends?
Much love,
Meag xx
